Recent advances include Motion Picture Studio (MPS) for full- motion, real-time video capture of procedures, transnasal TNE & TEGD, 360° Ultrasound, and Confocal Endomicroscopy - an emerging technology that allows cellular and sub-cellular viewing of tissue through an endoscope.

Hydroxyapatite

With the hope to offer something that is "as close to human bones as possible," we were one of the first companies to develop biocompatible ceramics called “hydroxyapatite” (product name: Apaceram). Hydroxyapatite, which is a chemical compound, is virtually the same as the constituents of human bone. Hydroxyapatite implantation is safe, and in fact, over time, the implant is partially resorbed and replaced by natural bone, as it becomes part of the body. PENTAX also developed “virus removal filters”, “antibacterial deodorizing ceramics” and “quick and easy antibody detection system without special facilities or equipment” applying the adsorptive characteristics of hydroxyapatite.
